Primary E-RYT-500Emma Palmer, E-RYT-500 is the Founder, Principal Teacher & Director of Studies at Moksha Yoga. Emma is an accredited Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT-500) through Yoga Alliance having taught over 3,000 hours of Yoga Classes & Lectures since her Graduation in 2003. Emma is a Member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and has taught lectures and workshops encompassing a wide variety of Yoga topics since 2003. She has studied Reiki Degree Levels 1 & 2, and reached 3rd year in the Bachelor of Health Science Degree (Naturopathy, SSNT). Emma's lectures are delivered with a high degree of knowledge in the field of Yoga that are inspiring, energetic, thorough, in-depth and taught with passion. Emma's passion for Yoga started in 1998 when she first began her practice, and continues to deepen her knowledge and experience of yoga whilst undertaking additional Yoga studies in both Australia and the United Kingdom. Emma credits world renowned teachers including Sharon Gannon & David Life from Jivamukti Yoga as influencing her personal practice as well as her teaching style. The Moksha Academy of Yoga is honoured to become only the 4th school in Victoria to be qualified with Yoga Alliance accreditation and opened the Moksha Academy of Yoga in September 2010 offering the long awaited Nationally recognised and Internationally Accredited RYT200 Yoga Teacher Training Course. General Entry RequirementsTo be eligible for general entry to the course, applicants are required to demonstrate: RYT200 CURRICULUMThe RYT200 Yoga Teacher Training Course is underpinned by 5 specific modules as outlined by Yoga Alliance:-The RYT200 Core Modules1. Techniques Training/Practice (TTP)This module includes the study of Asana, Pranayama, Kriya, Chanting, Mantra, Puja & Satsang, Yoga Sequencing, Bandha & Granthi, Meditation and a variety of other traditional yoga techniques including analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques, and guided practice of the techniques themselves. There is a significant focus within this course to support you to gain knowledge, understanding and practical application of yoga techniques, and to teach these techniques and practices effectively to your future students with confidence. As a result we have created an innovative approach to comprehensively study the techniques of yoga practice as in depth study of asana as a teaching application through the Asana Labs component and provides a compilation of information in both the theory and practical application of the principles and practices of Yoga techniques. 2. Teaching MethodologyThis module includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/correcting, instruction, teaching styles, and the qualities of a Yoga Teacher, the students' process of learning and business aspects of teaching Yoga. The components of the Teaching Methodology units have been integrated within the Techniques Training/Practice module and are also applied in the Yoga class environment. In addition, we have created the 'Mentoring Tutorials' as a means to support you and your fellow students to focus on specific areas of teaching for the duration of the course. 3. Anatomy & Physiology (A&P)Anatomy & Physiology is a fundamental and essential component of Yoga Teaching and is delivered from a holistic perspective. The A&P module includes both human physical anatomy and physiology, energy anatomy; yoga therapeutics and yoga research studies and includes both the study and application of the A&P principles of yoga practice. Areas of study include physical and energetic function of each system of the physical body, the musculoskeletal system, biomechanics of movement and an introduction to yoga as a therapy. This is an area of study that is of particular importance to the western Yoga Teacher and is covered in a thorough, practical and concise approach in order for each Teacher to apply this knowledge in a practical way within the Yoga Class environment. 4. Yoga Philosophy/Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga TeachersThis module includes the study of Yoga Philosophies, Yoga Lifestyle, and ethics for Yoga Teachers and starts to look at ancient yogic texts, yoga psychology and Yoga as a way pathway of living. Areas of study includes the Upanishads, The Vedas, The Bhagavad Gita, Patanjalis Yoga Sutras, Koshas, Kleshas, Gunas, Devangari Sanskrit, The 8 Limbs of Yoga and The Jnana Bhoomikas as well and the main traditions and practices of Yoga. This module also includes study of the philosophy, history and science of holistic health as well as Nutrition as Medicine. 5. PracticumThis module includes practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing/giving feedback, assisting students in a public Yoga class taught by a qualified Yoga Teacher. These Practical components are integrated throughout the core modules and include:- Flexible Learning OptionsOption 1 - 6 Month Immersion Course Starts Saturday 28th January 2012 The 6 month Immersion Course is designed for those who wish to cover the curriculum over 6 months at 10 hours of contact study per week. Lectures are held on Thursday nights from 5-10pm AND Saturday afternoon from 12-5pm Option 2 - 12 Month Comprehensive Course Starts Saturday 29th January 2012 OR Thursday 2nd February 2012. The 12 month Comprehensive Course gives you the opportunity of covering the curriculum over 12 months with 5 hours of contact study per week. Lectures are held every EITHER Thursday night from 5-10pm OR every Saturday from 12-5pm First Aid Training for Yoga Teachers - HLTFA301B Apply First Aid (Level 2) TrainingThe Moksha Academy of Yoga recognises the need for senior level of First Aid training which is also a pre-requisite for your Yoga Teaching Insurance during and post training. We will conduct two L2 First Aid Training Courses designed specifically for Yoga Teachers every 12 months including reminders of your annual CPR updates. Although the Level 2 First Aid Training is highly recommended as part of your Training Course the cost for the Training is not included in your total course fees. Public Yoga Class AttendanceYTT's must attend at least 2 Yoga classes per week either at the Moksha Academy or at another dedicated Yoga Studio. Enrolled students receive unlimited access to all our public classes per week at the Moksha Academy for the duration of their course.
