– WITH SANDRA QUELLE
Our new weekly Trauma-Informed Yoga Classes offer a compassionate, choice-led yoga practice grounded in embodied somatics and nervous system awareness.
Drawing on contemporary trauma-informed principles, embodied somatic practices, mindfulness and traditional yogic teachings, these classes are designed to cultivate greater self-awareness, emotional resilience and a deeper sense of ease. Through mindful movement, conscious breathing, grounding practices, meditation and mindful rest, you will be invited to reconnect with yourself through gentle exploration and practices that honour your own pace and capacity.
This gentle, supportive and invitational approach of Trauma-Informed Yoga is designed for you to leave each class feeling more grounded, connected and resourced, carrying a greater sense of calm and regulation into your everyday life.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each class may include gentle movement, grounding practices, prāṇāyāma (breath practices), meditation, restorative postures, journaling, mantra and guided relaxation.
Rather than focusing on flexibility, performance or achieving the perfect posture, you’ll be invited to explore movement from the inside out, developing greater awareness of your breath, body and internal experience. Every element is offered as an invitation, allowing you to choose how and when you participate based on what feels right for you on any given day, while encouraging you to notice, listen and respond to your experience with kindness and trust in your own inner wisdom.
Recognising that every nervous system and every life experience is unique, with trauma and nervous system adaptation forming a common part of the human experience, these classes are not therapy or treatment. Instead, they offer an inclusive and respectful environment where autonomy, curiosity and compassionate self-awareness are encouraged, allowing you to explore movement and stillness in ways that support greater wellbeing and embodied presence.
MEET SANDRA
Drawing on training in trauma-informed yoga, somatic practices, restorative yin, yoga nidra and sound therapy, Sandra offers gentle, nervous-system-aware classes that invite students to soften, rest and reconnect with themselves. With a background in counselling and women’s health, she creates an inclusive space where students can meet themselves exactly as they are.
Trauma-Informed Yoga is an educational wellbeing offering and is not psychotherapy, counselling or a substitute for medical or mental health care. If you are experiencing significant psychological distress, we encourage you to seek support from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
PLEASE NOTE
No previous yoga experience is required and you do not need to identify as having experienced trauma to benefit from this approach.
