Viśrānti in Prāṇāyāma A Sanskrit word that does n Viśrānti in Prāṇāyāma A Sanskrit word that does not translate easily but perhaps that’s the point, it’s not meant to. Language suffocating what can only be experienced, felt, and dissolved into. What Viśrānti does speak to however is a profound sense of rest, stillness, a returning back into our ground of being, our essential nature of knowing and returning to the flow of presence and to embrace a calm that always abides. In a dedicated practice of prāṇāyāma, this is everything. It is a profound practice of slipping into the flow state and rhythm where the nervous system remembers what it is to be nourished rather than driven. Without Viśrānti, breath practice becomes another thing we do, something we practice, and over time, this shifts. Throughout the day, the lingering perfume of stillness calls me back and shows itself to me in the small pauses, the gentle returns and I sense it more when life demands me to strive vs rest. Viśrānti teaches us that stillness is available to us in each moment, and beneath each moment this intelligence rests. To the modern practitioner, Viśrānti weaves its way through the waking hours, as an ever-present reminder that is not meant to be lived in a constant state of urgency, but instead to surrender and soften into stillness the intelligence of presence. #pranayama #breathpractice #stillness #calm
Trauma doesn’t show up as a narrative experience, Trauma doesn’t show up as a narrative experience, but a sensory response driven by the body’s somatic intelligence way before the mind translates it into story. This becomes very evident for the trauma-aware facilitator to observe when guiding movement practices and, when the picture is fully understood, somatic and embodied nervous system practices can be key to supporting the process at a deeply effective level for both short and long-term regulation. If this work calls you, our 100hr Trauma-Informed Embodied Somatics Facilitator Training is your opportunity for developing an expansive spectrum of trauma literacy, nervous system awareness, practical teaching skills and professional integrity to confidently and responsibly work with the nervous system at this level. Starts 3 September, our Early Bird Rate is still available, and you’re most welcome to book a call with Emma @the_moksha_devi to have any questions answered.
