In our Yoga practice we spend a lot of time exploring the sensations of our physical bodies – we breathe, stretch and strengthen to awaken a greater sense of aliveness, calm and clarity. Yet there are so many more layers to you beyond the physical realm of muscles, bones and organs. The flow of your mental and emotional energy – comprised of memories, fantasies, beliefs, emotions and reactions – gives you shape and form just as much as your muscles and bones.

One of the ways Yogis have described these powerful energies is using elements such as earth, water or fire and, just as in nature, these elements must exist in balance for optimal functioning within our own bodies and minds. To help us understand and attain this balance the Yogis mapped out our “energetic anatomy” as Nadis (channels) and Chakras (meeting places), enabling us to perceive the flow of our thoughts and feelings as a fluid river, a steady tree trunk or a raging fire. They also prescribed particular movements, breathing and meditation techniques to help move this energy when it’s stuck or direct its flow more purposefully.

This experiential workshop will focus on the Earth and Water elements in our Lower Chakras using an array of tools and techniques incorporating Mudra (meditative hand gestures), Pranayama (breathing techniques) and Yin Yoga poses.

Open to ALL LEVELS, experienced students or teachers will discover new ways to sense, describe and incorporate energetic anatomy into your teaching or practice, while newer students will develop an awareness around the nature of your energy body and how Yoga can help you get to know yourself better, become more present and feel more wholly connected.

This event will be hosted in-studio and made available for live online attendance to those who can’t make it to Moksha – please let us know after booking if you intend to attend virtually so we can provide you with access.

MEET JENNIFER

Jennifer Crescenzo has been teaching Yoga and leading Yoga teacher training for over 15 years in Australia and internationally. She has studied Yoga asana, philosophy and meditation in Yoga ashrams and Buddhist meditation centres around the world and completed specific courses in the Chakras, Bhagavad Gita and Patanjalis’ Yoga Sutras.

She has studied fascia, movement science and neuroscience with pioneering educators like Tom Myers, Robert Schleip, Bo Forbes, Bessel van der Kolk and Gil Hedley.  Jennifer helps her clients and students increase energy, decrease stress, recover from injuries and manage chronic pain. She draws on many methods of stretching and joint conditioning, breathing techniques, acupressure and meditation to help you feel your best, and uses her 10 years as a documentary filmmaker to tell a “movement story” that makes new ideas or complex concepts easy to understand and use in everyday life.
