YIN YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
WITH JENNIFER CRESCENZO
The Moksha Academy of Yoga is proud to be teaming up with Jennifer Crescenzo to present a special comprehensive 65-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training.
Jennifer has been at the forefront of Yin Yoga in Australia – teaching Melbourne’s first Yin classes and leading Yin Yoga Teacher Training around the globe. Mentored by Yin Yoga founder Paul Grilley, she is continually upgrading her vast understanding of movement, anatomy and energetics from the world’s leaders in their field.
Yin Yoga is a liberating and mindful style of Yoga featuring longer holds of postures designed to explore deeper into your awareness of body, mind and subtle energy flow. Over 3 progressive weekend modules you’ll develop an advanced understanding of Yin Yoga teaching methodologies, sequencing and integration of props, while discovering a whole new level of insight into the anatomy of human movement and how to powerfully influence the flow of emotional and mental energies.
Whether you’re looking to teach Yin Yoga at its fullest potential, add a new dimension of richness to ALL the Yoga experiences you deliver, or simply unlock new layers of depth in your own practice – this is the training for you!
*Please note Modules 1 & 2 have now completed for 2018, but places are still available for Module 3: Yin/Yang Sequencing – book your place below!
The full training consists of 3 progressive modules delivered over 3 weekends, to create a comprehensive 65-hour certification (51 contact hours/14 non-contact hours). All modules are hosted at Moksha Yoga, 437A Centre Road, Bentleigh 3204.
Individual modules (certified for 20 hours) can be selected separately, particularly for those with previous Yin training wanting to take their teaching to another level with the advanced sequencing modules. All content Jennifer shares has been significantly enhanced from its earlier incarnations, in line with her own progression, and any non-Yoga Teachers who’ve yet to complete a training on the fundamentals of Yin Yoga are advised to start with Module 1.
Each module includes a detailed lecture and discussion, combined with a led class and ample movement play – so you can integrate the concepts into your teaching through your own direct, embodied experience. All participants receive a detailed course manual for each unit.
MODULE ONE: YIN YOGA FUNDAMENTALS
Friday 16 – Sunday 18 March
In this weekend training we will cover the foundational anatomy and philosophy of Yin Yoga and the basic Yin postures. You will enter the “Posture Lab” where we break down the movements that shape each posture and consider where you and your students might encounter movement barriers.
You will learn how to work with bodyweight, gravity, and props to enter and exit postures more gracefully. Ultimately you’ll learn how to guide students into their own independent exploration of each posture as it unfolds so they can realise their full movement potential.
MODULE TWO: YIN YOGA SEQUENCING
Friday 18 – Sunday 20 May
Your joints work together like links in a chain to allow natural, free-flowing movement. The way you organise postures in a Yin Yoga sequence can help your students find the “missing links” where they have lost the ability to move naturally and efficiently.
In this weekend training, you will be introduced to two different body maps – the Anatomy Trains of Tom Myers and the Five Organ Networks of Traditional Chinese Medicine. These maps describe how energy travels through your body and how you can work with joints and connective tissues to restore the flow of energy.
MODULE THREE: YIN YANG SEQUENCING
Friday 20 – Sunday 22 July
Yang movements test you, insisting that you reach beyond what you think is possible. Yin movements unfold without effort or strain, allowing things to be as they are. In this training, you will learn to lead classes that balance the heating qualities of Yang practice with the cooling qualities of Yin practice.
In led Yin Yang sequences you will glide like a serpent, crouch like a tiger, and strike like a ninja! Through movement you will learn more about your joints and how to use Yin and Yang approaches to cultivate strength, balance, coordination, and fluidity.
