– WITH EMMA PALMER
The Breath Practice is a grounding and deeply restorative class rooted in the traditional practice of prāṇāyāma, the yogic science of breath regulation.
Designed to support nervous system balance, mental clarity, vitality and inner steadiness, this practice offers a space to slow down, reconnect and cultivate greater awareness through conscious breath.
Through guided breathing techniques, gentle breath regulation and moments of stillness, you’re invited to explore the relationship between breath, mind and energy in a safe and accessible way. Prāṇāyāma practices encourage a shift toward parasympathetic activation – helping to reduce tension, overwhelm and mental fatigue, allowing the body and mind to move into deeper states of rest and repair, and supporting improved quality of sleep.
Ideal for both beginners and experienced practitioners, this class offers a practical and deeply nourishing pathway to promoting greater calm, clarity, focus and presence.
LINEAGE & SOURCE OF PRACTICE
The classical yogic scriptures of Hatha Yoga, including the Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā (15th Century) Śivasaṃhitā (14th & 15th Century) and Gheraṇḍasaṁhitā (17th Century), form the traditional basis of prāṇāyāma techniques and practices, offering time-honoured methods for working with breath, energy (prāṇā), and the nervous system.
This class offers a contemporary and accessible approach to these sacred ancient teachings, translating traditional techniques into a supportive, trauma-informed practice suitable for modern students seeking to experience and embody its deeply regulating benefits.
