A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM EMMA

by Emma Palmer

I can’t quite believe it was a year ago that I prepared for the last Christmas message; time is speeding up and so are we! On reflection, I can’t help but feel incredibly blessed to come to the end of another profound year of growth, learning, discovery and awakening. Every day at Moksha I hear so many of you sharing your paths, your challenges, your heartbreaks, your dreams and your understandings. It is humbling to see how each of you courageously bring the philosophical teachings from your Sādhana into your own lives, where the true teachings have the most sincere and authentic impetus.

For some of us, this year has brought a myriad of teachings from the elders to our tables.

We have come to see the ways in which the teachings are accelerating, and formidably concertina their ways into our lives without reprieve. Traditionally this feeling of ‘speeding up’ relates to a crucial time in our spiritual growth and development, symbolic of moving through times of great change, challenge, loss, growth, and our own personal voyage of spiritual awakening. Our Sādhana has been a powerful place of stable refuge, as well as a soft place to land where compassion is the only gift we want or need. Our mat and meditation pillow have been our shelter; to bring us the gifts of quietness and stillness to breathe our way back to our own unique way of being. We have vowed and committed ourselves to choose the light, even in times where the dark, anxiety-riddled oppression has suffocated and overwhelmed – a reminder that the light is never too far away, if we allow ourselves the patience to sit still for long enough to let it find us.

We pray and trust these profound wisdom teachings continue to weave their rich fabrics into the tapestry of our lives through the festive season of Christmastime and into the fullness of 2019. May our Sādhana continue to flourish and blossom, and give rise to the teachings your Soul is yearning to learn most. Even, and particularly, when every fibre of your being resists the sacred contract, trust as your path of awakening continues to unfold in perfect Divine timing.

For us, to be a Teacher at Moksha is both a gift and a great privilege. We are honoured that you choose, every day, to share this path of Yoga with us, and allow us into your humble hearts when connection to your knowing tribe is needed most. How we gather every day, from the morning to the night, and give these ancient teachings the air beneath the wings longing for expansion and flight. For me, life is challenging enough with the teachings, and almost unbearable without. May the seeds of these ancient teachings reach out to find us just like the strong roots of the redwood trees; not down, but out and towards one another in search of connection and Satsaṅg once more, particularly at this time of year.

May this festive season be a time of sharing your unique light in love, connection and gratitude with your tribe – whether that be your birth family, your chosen family or your spiritual family, trust in the presence of love that surrounds you now and always.

I look forward to sharing another blessed year of teachings with you all in 2019 and close with one of the most powerful mantras, leading us to truth, and to the light.

The Mahāvākya

Asato mā sad gamaya

Tamaso mā jyotir gamaya

Mṛtyormā amṛtam gamaya

Oṁ Shāntiḥ, Shāntiḥ, Shāntiḥ

Translation

Lead me from ignorance, to truth

Lead me from darkness, to light;

Lead me from death, to immortality

May all beings find peace, peace, peace

With much love to you now and always

Námaste, in gratitude

Emma

The impacts of trauma are held deep within the ner The impacts of trauma are held deep within the nervous system, instilling a sense of fracture within the self that can often lay beyond the reaches of reconciliation through cognitive understanding or talk therapy. Studies have demonstrated somatic embodiment practices to be among the most effective pathways for regulation of this nervous system adaptation, liberation from the imprinted response and reconnection with the reality of our innate wholeness. Our Trauma-Informed Embodied Somatics Facilitator Training is a comprehensive 100hr professional course designed for somatic practitioners, wellbeing facilitators, yoga and meditation teachers, and Allied Health professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of trauma-informed facilitation and support others through embodied, nervous system-aware practices.
Led by Emma Palmer @the_moksha_devi and a multi-disciplinary faculty of trauma, psychology and somatics specialists, you’ll discover how trauma can impact the body, behaviour, relational dynamics and sense of safety within practice spaces, while developing the practical skills required to facilitate movement, breath, meditation, sound and other multi-modal techniques in ways that support nervous system regulation, participant agency and embodied awareness.
Grounded in both contemporary trauma research and the wisdom of traditional yogic practices, the clinical, cognitive and embodied dimensions of trauma are explored together over six progressive modules – guiding you from foundational trauma literacy and nervous system awareness through to practical teaching methodology – while covering trauma experiences shaped by an expansive spectrum of factors.
