The first instalment of our Living Yoga Philosophy series for 2018 – “The Practice of Prarthana” – explored the power of prayer as an anchor of faith, guidance and connection with a higher wisdom as we navigate the myriad of teachings that manifest in our daily life.
Below is the heartfelt prayer Emma shared to open space within ourselves for humbly inviting divine guidance, clarity and understanding to light our path.
Namaste x
“I pray you remind me I am not alone as my Spirit walks this path on earth
You promised to stay with me, and you’ve not once let me down
In times of need, help me to remember the one place I know I can find you
Is within the stillness of my own Soul and the centre of my beating heart
In the tranquillity of my morning Sadhana, I long to be in your presence
I feel you, and I see you, ever guiding us all in our day to day meanderings
Let me not call to you only when I need your guidance and steadfast support
But to ask for your gracious presence when my only prayer and offering is ‘thank you’
I do not need the confines of bricks and mortar when my heart yearns for communion with you through prayer
The truth is no walls could ever contain your powerful omnipotent presence
Thank you for guiding me across the landscape of life with effortless precision
And thank you for moving me out of my own way when fear and control rise
I am at my most content when in Divine communion with you
And when I ask, absolutely do I receive
So why are there times I forget your loving guidance is only a breath away
Found in the shallows and the deep, the dark and the light
Your loving offerings, wisdom teachings and unconditional love present everywhere
Help me realise I don’t have to travel this path alone
Particularly in those moments when I’m overwhelmed and fearful of the enormity of life’s teachings
And when life seems like a mountain, and I don’t have the tough footwear to climb it
When I’m challenged beyond what I think I can handle
I know you are there at the core of the teaching, encouraging and forever reminding me there is no challenge I cannot face
Because it is you who has given me the strength through the teachings I have learnt thus far,
Despite my best effort to try and avoid them
In the knowing and in the remembrance, it is you who guides me
Through every signpost and every whisper of grace
Just as you always have been, patiently waiting for me to ask you
And so I am here, we are all here, asking for you to share your wisdom teachings with us in this sacred space, moving through each posture and each breath
Show us the way and light our paths with your Grace
We are open, and we are ready
And so it is…”
