TRUSTING THE INNER VOICE

– A YOGA INTENSIVE WITH EMMA PALMER

How many times have you had a sense, or your inner wisdom has risen to the surface, only to doubt and ignore its palpable message? Learning to build our spiritual muscles takes times, and according to the Yoga teachings it requires the ability to follow the three stages of inner listening. Viktor Frankl refers to the space that exists between stimulus and response, and it is within this space of stillness that our inner wisdom calls to forever guide us.

The more we return to this place of inner wisdom, the deeper our faith and trust in the insight that is making its way through. We discover ways to witness the visceral feelings and sensations associated with this guidance and then follow it with a confidence in the precision of its higher wisdom. The Upanishads reveal that when we connect with Śraddhā, or earnest faith, we begin to establish a freedom from the constant self-doubting. With this comes a sense of self-certainty, and an ability to trust ourselves no matter what. Often the essence of this inner wisdom can be difficult to explain, but manifests as a sense of true knowing that can only ever be experienced.

For our first Yoga Intensive of 2018 we will use the ancient practices of Yoga to ignite and reconnect with a deep faith in our sacred inner wisdom. Through the sequence of Vinyasa Krama interwoven with the breath, we find ways to honour the three stages of inner listening – Sravana, Manana and Nididhyasana. These Yogic teachings support us to recognise that we must first find the space to go inwards and listen, before reflecting on the wisdom we receive whilst contemplating our next conscious choice. When we tune in to feel, hear and see the wisdom that is waiting to find us, we connect with the presence of faith and trust in what is calling us to listen and wake up. When we truly listen, and have faith in what we are hearing and sensing, we feel guidance from a palpable, all-knowing and ever present source.

The Krama created for this Intensive includes Asana, Pranayama, Mudra, Dhyana (meditation) and Mantra to guide you on a journey of Svadhyaya (self-enquiry) to reconnect you with faith in your sacred intelligence once more and create space for reawakening the purpose and deeper meaning of your life. You will be taken on a journey through the layers of your being, dissolving the energetic knots that hinder the flow of wisdom, and guided to the stillness of the Anandamaya Kosha – the sheath of our blissful self. It is in this place we find the answers we seek – aligned with the wisdom of the highest Self, the Paramātmā.
